Why Your Homegirl Sucks as an Accountability Partner

I love the idea of an accountability partner, but let’s face it. Finding a good one is like finding a good hair stylist in a new city!

A lot of trial and error.

So, before you go asking your bestie to hold you accountable this year, you may want to take a step back and evaluate whether or not she is actually the best accountability partner for you.

A few things to think about when looking for a new accountability partner:

  • What’s their level of commitment to their goals? You don’t want a wishy washy accountability partner. You want to get with someone who is ALL IN on their goals. They should be just as committed to achieving the goal without your support as they are with it.

  • What’s their game plan? Your accountability partner should already have an action plan in place in order for you to be able to hold them accountable.

  • What actions have they already taken? I like to link up with people who are already taking action on their goals. They don’t NEED me to achieve this goal and us working together is just an added layer of accountability for them.

Building community is one of the most important aspects in your overall success. Don’t just randomly link up with people.

Take the time to evaluate your inner circle and those that you exchange time and energy with because your squad can build can be your biggest asset or your greatest distraction.
